Barn Bash to help family-services group

Commercial-News - 7/13/2019

Jul. 13--GIFFORD -- The first Barn Bash is coming to Gordyville USA, offering fun for the entire family. This event helps raise funds to continue the work of Gateway Family Services of Illinois, a central Illinois non-profit agency.

The event will be from 3-10 p.m. Saturday, July 20.

The Barn Bash features a Little Mr. & Miss Gateway competition, silent auction, games, and live music from country-rock band Wreckless Whiskey. Miss Illinois will be the master of ceremonies for the event.

"The Barn Bash isn't just for kids," said Michael Remole, chief operating officer and lead therapist with Gateway Family Services of Illinois, in a release. "We invite the whole family to come out and join us for a day of fun."

A variety of activities throughout the day will be offered, including the silent auction with items like Cardinals tickets, autographed photo by the Cubs' Kyle Schwarber, gift certificate to Brainscapes and more. Attendees can enjoy food, and drinks are available for purchase. Gordyville has agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds from drink sales to Gateway Family Services.

Gateway Family Services of Illinois provides unique and innovative clinical services including trauma-focused equine assisted psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), play, sand, art and nature therapies to individuals and families in Central Illinois.

"When a family encounters a mental health crisis, we want to ensure that there is not also a financial crisis," Remole said in the release. "Co-pays, out-of-pocket expenses or lack of insurance are some of the barriers to individuals and families getting access to mental health services. We host various fundraisers throughout the year to try and bridge that gap for people."

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Gordyville USA is local on 2205 County Road 3000 North, Gifford.
