Veterans Challenge 5K in Greenup

Jul. 23--GREENUP -- A local organization that provides assistance to veterans in need is hosting a fundraiser race on Saturday to be held at the Greenup Community Park.

The Marine Corps League in conjunction with O Such Tri-State Race Planners is hosting the Veterans Challenge 5K.

The mission of the Marine Corps League is to provide assistance to needy veterans, their widows, and orphans, as well as render proper memorial services at the funeral of all honorably discharged veterans.

The race will begin and end at Greenup Community Park with two long scenic sections of the course running right along the river. The race is open to all ages. The race will have door prizes and refreshments, as well as a cookout after the race.

On-site registration will open at 8 a.m. and cost $25 day of the race. Pre-registration can be completed by mailing O Such Race Planners with "Veterans Challenge" on the memo line and sending the check to 5024 Williams Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101. The cost is $20 if registered before Friday. Pre-registered groups of eight or more can register for $18 each.

Race shirts are guaranteed to the first 150 registered. There will be trophies awarded to the first two overall male and female finishers in each group.
